Tomorrow we will be looking at Sacrifice in RE, all day! Here is a link to the clip we watched today in PSHE. Can you think of any other film characters who make a sacrifice, or do something very brave that puts them in danger, to help someone else? Leave your ideas by clicking on comments, below, to win a merit for your card. Remember only to put your first name, not your family name, at the bottom of your comment, type the weird word in, and click 'anonymous' before you click 'submit'.

Open as normal on 4th February 2009
Based on the available information from Southampton City Council, I am intending to open school on Wednesday 4th February. Please be aware that roads and pathways may be very icy and I urge you to travel with care and at a safe speed.
If subsequent advice or information causes me to revise this decision, I will endeavour to update this website as quickly as possible and broadcast the relevant details on Radio Solent.
Please do keep listening to these broadcasts.
Thank you for your support today. I hope to see you all tomorrow.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it...
For the last four weeks of the half term we will be reading and writing adventure and mystery stories.
Over the weekend, how about getting a head start by looking at your DVD collection and making a list of all the films (U or PG only please!) that you think might be classed as adventure or mystery, or both! Maybe you could persuade an adult at home to let you watch one and jot down the features - eg. what danger is there; where does the hero travel to; are any mysterious objects involved?
You can post your list on the blog by going to the 'comments' link at the bottom of this text. Write your list, with your FIRST NAME ONLY (You can put the first letter of your second name if someone has the same first name )at the bottom, then type in the weird word in the security box, whatever it is, click the anonymous box, and post!
Have fun! This message will self destruct in 5 seconds...

Adding and Subtracting
We're looking at word problems in Maths this week, and this is what you need to remember:
Read the problem carefully.
Pick out the calculation.
Estimate!
Calculate!
Check!
Answer the problem.
Answering these problems can be, well, a problem, if you have forgotton how to add or subtract! Remind yourself of the number line method of subtraction on the school website: http://fairislemaths.blogspot.com/2008/11/at-fairisle-junior-school-we-want-your.html
